Who doesn’t love a good horror flick? The adrenaline rush, the screams, the jump scares – it’s all part of what makes the genre so appealing. And “Bloody Hell,” directed by Alister Grierson, certainly delivers on those fronts.
The film takes us on a wild ride with our protagonist, Rex Coen (Ben O’Toole), a former soldier who has just been released from prison for committing a heroic act that he doesn’t remember. Rex decides to take a vacation and travel to Helsinki, but things quickly go awry when he becomes the target of a twisted family of cannibals.
The storyline itself is enough to make any horror fan excited, but what really elevates this film is the exceptional acting from its cast. Ben O’Toole delivers an outstanding performance as Rex Coen – he embodies both the toughness and vulnerability of his character with ease. The supporting cast also does an excellent job, particularly Meg Fraser as Alia, who brings depth and nuance to her role as Rex’s love interest.
