It was a fine day in the bustling town of Hannibal, Missouri when I sauntered into a local picture house to view the latest film sensation – “Escape Room.” As I settled into my seat surrounded by throngs of eager moviegoers, my eyes were glued to the silver screen as the film’s tale of terror and intrigue unfurled before me.
The story follows a group of strangers who are lured into an “escape room” – a game where players must solve puzzles and clues to escape a deadly scenario. As they progress through the rooms, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary game. The challenges become increasingly dangerous and life-threatening, forcing the players to work together and use their wits to survive.
As the tension mounted, I found myself on the edge of my seat as each twist and turn threatened to send me hurtling out of it. The performances were stellar, with standout turns from Taylor Russell as the resourceful Zoey and Logan Miller as wise-cracking slacker Ben.

And while some critics have dismissed “Escape Room” as a mere popcorn flick, I disagree. It takes the idea of a fun game night and turns it on its head, subverting expectations and delivering an experience that’s truly unforgettable.
Of course, movies like this aren’t for everyone. Some might say that the cinematography was a bit too flashy or that the dialogue was too corny. But to those people, I say – lighten up! Movies like this are meant to be fun and entertaining, not high art.
And let’s not forget about the film’s score and soundtrack. The driving electronic beats perfectly complemented the action onscreen, creating a sense of urgency and danger that made my pulse quicken.
In short, “Escape Room” is a thrilling ride that’s sure to delight audiences of all ages. It’s not often that we get a movie that’s both cleverly constructed and emotionally resonant – but this film manages to pull off both with ease.
